There is really nothing wrong with the taste of the bottling. Typical Caol Ila with a 1st fill sherry finish ironed over. It's delicious, but nothing spectacular. Despite the high rating because it's delicious, it wouldn't be worth 150 euros for a large bottle to me. I expect a little more in the price range, because you can get Caol Ilas that are comparable in taste for just over 100 euros.

Delicious and boring at the same time… seems too round.

The sherry dominates everything - sweet, fruit, BBQ smoke, smoked bacon - all nicely integrated - no off notes and delicious sherry. (Note again - very cute!)

Standing next to the smoker with friends and waiting for the last hour of the 20 hour brisket - wonderful.

Very tasty stuff. This has a nice sweet and peat profile with lots of jam notes, the peat is very well integrated and compliments the wine cask influence rather nicely. I could do with those peated influences being more prominent. This is a no-nonsense, straightforward, complex whisky that will be impossible to dislike if you like peated whisky.
