Peaty and earthy, and the smokiness is of the elegant side. A little bit of sweetness, some grassiness which is quite a surprise for me. The saltiness is just nice, not too overpowered. Kudos to Compass Box to always be able to create a very good nose.
    • Taste
      85 85
Sweet and peppery, with light smokiness and bit of saltiness. Some earthiness and creaminess, which is not really coherent to me. Slight bit of bitterness and nuttiness.
    • Finish
      86 86
Slightly salty, with some nuttiness and smokiness.

Peat, smoke, citrus, vanilla, malt. Burnt jam, ash. 21

The middle-aged man. Moderately sweet. Smoky-peat, slightly biting. 20
    • Finish
      87 87
From medium to long. The same smoke-peat and phenolic motifs. Mineral, herbal bitterness. 22

The blend is silent with Ayil's character without any special delicacies, delicious, but simple. Balance sheet - 21.
      Total - 84.

For the money certainly a nice whiskey! fairly long aftertaste and peaty is certainly predominant. Clearly a somewhat younger whiskey so you can taste the alcohol more. nonetheless, price / quality super!

N: Another young peat blend, malty, oily and erm - light. Theres no monster here with a modest ppm of 12 [from Ardmore]
T: Much more confident arrival than the peated 'Glasgow blend' with more of an intense concentration seeping into the palate.
F: Peat resides with young [but tamed] spirit into a grain finish.
C: Very similar to the Glasgow blend but with a tad more depth, delivery and mouthfeel.

    Scores a C+

Nose peat, earth, slight vanilla note. Mouth peat, pungency, sulfur. Slightly saline. Rather unidimensional, worse than the Laphroaig 10.

  10. Ivynor scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Very easy to drink, sweet, with good length. But it's not a peat monster.
    • Nose
Dry, on the lemon, a little peat, iodine, plants and earth. Feeling of young islay.
    • Taste
Rather sweet, slightly creamy, on cough syrup, plants.
    • Finish
Too sweet, yet this syrup for cough, earth.
