[September, 2017]  There were so many different Glendronach single casks released over the last decade that it is impossible to try them all (except you own two or better three livers).  Nevertheless I try one from time to time and preferably older releases like this one...

...that is another high quality Glendronach release which is great but not stellar.  Very sippable, indeed...
    • Nose

The colour is chestnutoloroso sherry and the texture shows some slow legs and medium tears. The nose offers a typical modern sherry profile without flaws but without highlights too.
    • Taste
      88 88
The taste is very sweet with all the sherry-induced flavours one can think of, very quaffable.
    • Finish
      88 88
The mouthfeel is a little hot and peppery but nicely coating. The finish is of medium length and vanishes nicely in waves. Water smoothes the dram and improves both the mouthfeel and finish, I like it better when reduced (one point up).

Transferring previous Note (2011.11.29) content into a Tasting Note.
    • Nose
fruity sherry, raspberry jam, dusty, a bit of burnt wood smoke,
      butter, bready/starchy, goose feathers (?). (88)
Later: less fruity, caramelizing sugar in a pan, vanillin, cappucino,
some tobacco, slightly leathery as well (87)
    • Taste
very pleasant sweetness, some chocolate notes alcohol incredibly
well integrated for +60%, there`s a dry peak when going into the
      finish, dusty, some tannins (86)
    • Finish
walnuts, shortbread, somewhat hot, woody dryness remains for
most of the finish, still pleasant sweetness next to it, but not as much
complexity as I hoped for. Later a few bitter notes seem to join the
      dryness as well (85)

  6. Malt Hans scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Woody and peaty aroma, heather honey, virginia tobacco, black currants, smoked bacon, ripe pear, furniture polish, peaches and custard. Marzipan sweet aroma, ginger, pepper, anise, vanilla, roasted chestnuts and malt. Long, spicy and malty end.
