Nose- Thick sherry, a lot of very ripe fruit, leather, exotic wood, some resin.
Taste - a show of power, honey, ripe fruit, figs, tobacco, leather, a great Olorosso cask giving a nice dryness. Alcohol is almost imperceptible.
Finish- Long and changing. Light acidity of forest fruits, a bit of resin, a lot of tobacco and leather, sweet fruit and nuts. It is great! What a lovely Olorosso Butt!

    Blind mystery tasting.
    • Nose
very strong and charred; seems like old Oloroso maturation
    • Taste
redolent of cognac with that characteristic fruity dryness; a lot of mouthfeel
    • Finish
      medium; dry coffee

    4th bath:
    explosive nose, heavy!
    • Nose
old wood impregnated with alcohol, with chips that fall apart, fruits ripe, cooked, candied, caramelized in the bottom of pan, honey, old walnuts oozing, with the oily side, almost wax:
dark chocolate, grapes cooked with, strong sweet spices. Concentrated coffee smell too.
there are these Santons put down the tree with the gingerbread.
    • Taste
intense woody fragrances, open spice box!
fruits cooked with stewed black cherries, grapes, orange and tangerine cooked on the corner of the fire, then a little caramelized, chocolate more present, a little dust on the old varnished furniture.
    • Finish
nuts, candied orange, stubborn woody for a long and persevering finish!

I directly compared my GlenDronach 14 yo 1996 Oloroso Sherry Butt Cask 202. It sounds (though dense and powerful) a significantly lighter look than this five years older version. And those five years is damn well. This is a very brutal leach of a barrel. Extremely dense and concentrated whisky, probably the darkest whisky I ever drank, with color, smell, taste and overall tone. Top. It tasted great and it was a great tasting experience. Feeling as if you were drinking thirty-year-old or even older whisky.
    • Nose
The smell sounds very dark. She quite reminds me of nuts. Bee honeycombs. The rust of rum (some of the heavier and better plantations and yes, and the liquor in the style of Presidente Marti). Leather, burnt raisins on a Christmas tree, exotic wood, sandalwood, cedar, cigar boxes. Drop five drops of water to 30 ml of whisky. Wood, raisins, slightly windy. (93 b)
    • Taste
Roasted raisins, povidly potions, lots of exotic wood, sandalwood, cloves, chocolate and tobacco. In reverberation, a heavily taned barrel. (93 b)

It's very good in his register, which is not really mine. Very (too) concentrated, with a lot of wood. I remain convinced that all these Glendro Single Casks of the early 90's are to forget 20 or 30 years in a cellar to win the fade and finesse that will perhaps be the Tormore Samaroli of tomorrow.

    Tasting notes from the Label

NoseComplex toasted oak aromas with an almost earthu presence. This is followed with treacle, nuts and wild honey.

AppearanceRich cherry wood. Almost tawny, leading to a yellow edge.

PalateA solid platform of sherry, spices fruit and toasted nuts with a surreal balance of vanilla and honey. Long and well craffted.

nice length & balance of sherry, sweetness & wood,  (89)
later: some sour but pleasant notes in the finish next to some dry dark wood, wood seems to turn dryer over time(86)
