Whisky Reviews for Blue Hanger 5th Limited Release

- Aroma : sweet juicy fruit, honey, candy with nuts, gingerbread, shortbread, spices and herbs. The taste is soft and even: light honey, gingerbread, bread, malt, fruit compote, spices, small grassy bitterness. Aftertaste of medium duration: honey, bread and malt, gingerbread and biscuits, spices, a little oak. Conclusion . A good, well-built pattern. Unobtrusive, cautious. Probably, would come for a leisurely friendly meeting. Rating: 87 (n22t21f22b22).
- Malty sweetness. Evoque a Japanese by its rapid implementation, readability. A little caramel. Honeysuckle (a first for me). Later, milk chocolate, dried fruits, nuts especially. On the palate, intense, without aggression but with some spices a bit too bitter for my taste that unbalance a little bit all. With a little water, the nose becomes warm and woody, the mouth is adorned with sweetness and dried fruits. The nose is beautiful but I was a little disappointed in the mouth.
- 5th Limited Release (NAS, 2010): Clynelish (1x hogshead 1997/n. 4704) + Dufftown (1x hogshead 1982/n.18584) + Glenlivet (1x hogshead 1978/n.13510) + Mortlach (1x butt 1991/n. 5141)
Rich mixture of honey, ripe fruit, walnuts and spices: it smells like sherry !.
Rich, powerful, round and complex blend of aged malts. Spices, ripe fruits, oleaginous (nuts ...). The sherry finish seems obvious but without too much "impasto".
Fine and elegant finish with good length and a nice roundness.
- Blue Hanger is named after William Hanger, the 3rd Lord Coleraine, a loyal customer of Berry Bros. & Rudd during the late 18th century. He was renowned for the striking blue clothes he wore and gained the soubriquet, â€
