    Short tasting from March 24th, 2023;
    a pleasant, long-matured blend - certainly with a good proportion of malt - that looks old and noble and should please;
    [color:] = amber;
    • Nose
      dry, sherry flavors, berries, spices, wood;
    • Taste
      despite 48.2% a very soft, aromatic start; the typical grain aromas are recognizable, dry sherry, spices, wood - all beautifully balanced!
    • Finish
      long finish, old dry sherry and wood;

    Beautifully delicate and soft on the palate and in the nose, despite the 48% ABV. Don't expect big, bold flavours here: everything is beautifully interwoven - to the point where when you nose it, you'd think it's not very complex until you take a very small sip and just let it sit on your palate. It's only then that the old wood and subtle sherry notes start to shine through. The finish isn't terribly long, but does offer some complexity still (chocolate, orange skin, subtle sherry).

    I think it's nice, especially for the money, but would strongly suggest having this as the starter of the evening and taking your time with it: a minimum of 30 years old after all, and there's grain in there which always needs time and some hand warmth.

    Dusty nose. Faint red fruit. Gentle. Faint stewed fruits. The old school sherry kind. But blended with something less-than. I’m liking this. Gentle spice, a wave of sherry goodness, and vanilla and nutmeg. Well done. 88/100 if you want a subtle one.
