What a classic nose! A bit subtle but it is there, waxy(candles), honey and apples. Some fresh oak too. Just beyond the array citrus flavour. The smoke suprised me and is very pleasant.

I admit I have a sweet spot for Convalmore. The whisky of this distillery almoste never dissappoints me. This expression is surpisingly fresh and zesty. Sad that the distillery is gone for ever.
    • Nose
Fresh, sweet and clear. Quite herbal. Lemon and limde. Orange sherbet. Some hay and Heather as well.
    • Taste
Very waxy. Lots of citrus fruit, oranges and green apples. Vanilla and gentle oak. Minty. Then some late spice. Almost pastis like.
    • Finish
Smooth and juicy. Slightly woody. Liquorice. Some smoke?

What an amazing nose, but the palate is a touch too bitter. Even water cannot elevate the mouthfeel to similar heights, sadly. Pretty interesting profile, that I’ve rarely encountered. Closest I can think of are some ex-Bourbon Clynelish.
    • Nose
      93 93
Solventy sweet, with raisin bread and pina coladas. The alcohol is quite pungent. Bees wax, flowery cascades of raspberry cotton candy, and coconut. Wow, what a nose! Rum-infused cantaloupe, wood glue, and sesame oil.
    • Taste
      87 87
White tee, lavender honey, and peach jam. Slightly drying, with mildly bitter tannins and caramelized sugar. Comically, wet river pebbles, as well as lime-infused clay.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium. Limes, dry oak, faint notes of herbal honey.

Sweet herbal tea with some lemon, that's my first impression. Also comes with vanilla on the palate with fresh apples to the fore alongside spicy oak notes and a pleasant smoke. For me, this is a very good filling, which is clearly above the average, too bad this distillery is no longer existent.
