    St. Kilian Distillers' note:
    • Nose
Tropical aromas of rum and sweet molasses develop with ripe pineapple, grapes as well as juicy peaches to an exotic fruit bouquet, rounded off by fine oak spice.
    • Taste
Juicy peaches, sweet grapes and creamy vanilla with ripe pineapple are perfectly surrounded by a pleasantly warming melange of spicy oak, grape seed notes and a pinch of pepper.
    • Finish
Creamy-sweet fruit compote and red grape jelly linger pleasantly for a long time with subtle dry notes of grape seeds and mildly warming oak.

the Moscatel barrels come through well on the nose with light fruit aromas of peach and mirabelle plum.

The taste is relatively young and lively with sweet-malty impressions that are intensified in the finish.

Not bad but probably. I'm a little young.

St. Kilian Signature Edition Twelve, 50.8% alc. Original bottling (2022). Aging: Moscatel, rum and American oak barrels

Nose: Candied pineapple meets rum balls. Also raisins in fruit muesli, oak wood and cloves. I also have to think alternately of eggnog and Crema Catalana.

Palate: The wine comes through, slightly dry and less sweet than expected. Instead, grape seeds, some oak and dried apricots. In addition, biscuits with vanilla flavor and even Christmas stollen linger.

Finish: Medium long, a little more spice comes through here. The dry fruit aromas also linger. Some pepper and cinnamon stay even longer.

Conclusion: me and wine barrels? Oh well…. but here St. Kilian meets a good mix of barrels. 84/100 points (2023)
