  1. GWC scored this whisky 77 points Expert Junior

The Etter Johnett is an interesting single malt whisky, sometimes reminiscent of a fruit brandy. It definitely offers a different experience and stands out from its Scottish and Irish counterparts.
    • Nose
Fruity notes of pears coated in alcohol, similar to Williams pears. Plus fine truffle chocolate filled with fruit brandy.
The fruity notes are in the foreground and are reminiscent of overripe fruit: apples, blackberries, raspberries.
But I can also smell fresh grass and grain.

The alcohol stings now and then, but the whisky remains delicate. It has something of a fruit brandy about it. I can detect a subtle sweetness of marzipan. Vanilla is also present. There is also a fresh lemon hidden in the glass, but it only shows itself if you spend enough time with the whisky. The whisky needs time.
    • Taste
The whisky also has fruity notes on the tongue. However, fruitiness, especially pear compote, is no longer the main component as in the nosing.

I taste a nutty character, with a portion of herbs. I also have a woody tone and a fairly malty taste on the tongue. A little bit of spice is also added. A pinch of pepper completes this process before the finish. A little more volume would not have hurt the whisky, especially at 44% ABV.
    • Finish
Pleasantly soft with its 44% ABV. Light fruitiness with spices lingers a little. The malty character also remains in the aftertaste.
