Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain 1988 CWC
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.28 points
- In the nose this is an OK whisky but I find it very dry and bitter in the mouth. With water it becomes much better than drinking it neat. Still, not the best Bunna I've had so far.
- Pleasant Bunnahabhain who, as so often at this distillery falls out of the Islay pattern and would go through almost as well as a strong Speysider / Highlander.
Plum compote, clear notes of chocolate with quite high cocoa content, a little wood mixed with traces of raw meat, the alcohol is present, but not intrusive yet.
Spicy spicy, some ginger, undiluted, the chocolate is far in the background, some water brings it back more forward. Then a Tendez clear to sweet. The smoke, which is present in homeopathic dose, completes a quite harmonious overall picture. Water can definitely tolerate this Bunna well.
Again quite spicy and pleasing. Rather short.
