Phenolic peat smoke and maritime notes, which are characteristic of his famous home distillery, combine harmoniously with sweet raisins and nutty notes in the Islay Single Malt Williamson 2014/2022. Responsible for this: the finish in two First Fill Oloroso Sherry Hogsheads.
Nose: Phenolic peat smoke on a background of crispy fried bacon with sweet nutty notes, raisins and heavily sweetened black tea.
Taste: Fascinatingly soft with phenolic peat smoke, with a slight maritime effect, sweet and with fried bacon in the background. In addition, raisins, Brazil nuts and typically “dirty” towards the end.
Finish: Very long with strong phenolic smoke, clear sweetness and some bacon and a hint of milk chocolate.
