  1. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

It can be seen that a special cask was selected for this bottling to mark the 10th anniversary of the ''Westfalian'' brand. Such sherry aromas are otherwise more likely to be found in whiskys from the last century. Even if the malt is almost too sweet in the mouth for my taste, I really like it with its nice balance between cask and amazingly mature spirit.
    • Nose
A really nice old-school sherry nose, dusty oak cupboard in the basement, light tobacco, nubuck leather abrasion, freshly ground coffee, in addition to the spicier wood aromas, there is also a softer side with vanilla and cocoa, a hint of coconut resonates, lightly roasted hazelnuts as an appendix followed by a few fruits such as ripe plums and black cherries, baked banana with cinnamon and forest honey, baked apple with brown sugar, a pinch of allspice and a pinch of white pepper, even if the barrel sets the pace, the well-matured distillate is not overpowered here, but can skilfully stage his malty face again and again
    • Taste
Under its thin layer of dust, the robust oak cabinet shows some varnish and an appealing wood spice, plums and black cherries are joined by cocoa and roasted coffee, tobacco and leather again, long-stored white pepper and allspice bring a little pep into play, increasingly sweet, forest honey large caramel block malt gutti is sucked, raisins, a banana freed from its brown skin is crushed with Muscovado, just before the border of exaggerated sweetness the malt turns in time, wonderful mouthfeel, the brandy never seems youthful or alcoholic, puffed grain, apple chips , toasted nut bread
    • Finish
Unfortunately only of medium length and almost a little pale in comparison to the expressive taste, clear malt, the bitter-free oak leaves behind a warming dusty woody spiciness and a fine cloud of vanilla, coffee sweetened with brown sugar, dark milk chocolate with raisins and roasted hazelnuts, baked banana with forest honey and something Cinnamon lingers with a memory of white pepper
