Whisky reviews for Imperial 1993 GM

8 users have left 8 reviews for this whisky. Average rating is 89.74 points.

  1. Lorion scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Exactly to my liking, maybe a tad too aggressive. What he does, he does great. 88 points.
    • Nose
"Trail mix, herbaceous and intense sherry. At first there is sweetness, then it becomes drier. Raisins, dried cherries.

Water: The nose is generally a bit drier, the oak is more emphasized."
    • Taste
"A tingling start. Black pepper, dark fruits, a spicy oak. Tart dark chocolate, grape skins in the aftertaste.

Water: The whisky is spicier and a bit tart, but also a little less aggressive."
    • Finish
Long and very warm. Mild coffee, some alcohol is also left in the mouth.

  3. LittlePeat scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Beautiful mineral-waxy notes with a medium sherry influence. Slightly sharp and fluffy on the palate and on the finish, otherwise it would have got even more points.

Tasted at the G&M Recollection Series Tasting with Gordon Muir, at the Brühler Whiskyhaus, Dec. 2022.
    • Nose
You notice the alcohol, dark dried fruits, cherries, dark honey, raisins, you also notice that it's 90s, hint of tobacco leaves, later also baked apple, tick of clove
    • Taste
Intense, fleshy, baked apple, tobacco and grass, delicate leather, nutmeg, cloves, spicy, well-integrated and yet not too modern sherry, as feared by the nose
    • Finish
Oak comes out more, nutmeg, some black pepper, malt very present for the first time, bitter orange, medium to long

  6. Horror_Vacui scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Intensely dark fruity, leather armchair, tobacco. Plum jam, dates and raisins.

    Quite rugged, ginger-sharp attack.
Because a balanced mixture of dark and sweet fruit (raisins, dried berries) and spice. trail mix, tobacco. Baked apple with cinnamon and nutmeg, some allspice.

Medium length, milk coffee and milk chocolate. Spicy finish.

The sherry cask leaves little room for the distillate, but it was a fine cask. Nice balance of sweetness and spice. Maybe a bit snappy when starting.

Good quality and really nice flavors. A good Imperial representative! Unfortunately, the alcohol & seasoning at the back is exhausting and cannot really be tamed with water either.
