The bottling is absolutely amazing. One of my favorite batches and for my taste much stronger than the previous unpeated batches. 91 points.
    • Nose
"Love at first sight. The whiskey flows full into the nose and manages to appear creamy and elegant. There is not even a hint of alcohol. Winey cellar aromas, as I expect them from Couvreur. Spicy dates, dried plums In addition, oak dripping with wine. With a little time, raisins come through. Warm spices - some cinnamon, a hint of nutmeg. Old and wine-dampened leather. A hint of marzipan.

Water: The whiskey will be a little drier. A little more restrained. The oak is a little more prominent. It takes a moment for the oak to recede into the background. Some oranges and cloves are there now. "
    • Taste
"Much sweeter than expected. Sweet dates and raisins. Oak tingles pleasantly from the start. Sweet musty leather. Spices fried with brown sugar.

Water: sweet marzipan, aromatic pipe tobacco. "
    • Finish
      Long, leathery with fermented fruit.

Again one of the better Overaged. This was one of my favorite whiskeys when I started whiskeying, but then it has steadily declined over the past two years. This one is again complex, not too overloaded and a nice, slightly dirty couvreur with minimal sulfur notes in the background. Overall a bit too creamy, but a delicious sherry whiskey that is intense and bold - a modern but good sherry board.

Overall, it is a bit too overloaded and intense for me, but still a good drinking whiskey as a digestif. But you have to like it, because it's very heavy and sweet.
    • Nose
Plum jam, matchstick sulfur, oak wood and beet juice cream. Nice harmony and the 50.2 percent is spot on.
    • Taste
Starts very sweet and then swings into the bitter with light wood and sulfur aromas. There is also bitter orange, dark chocolate and a very rich fruity sweetness of dark dried fruit.
    • Finish
The mouthfeel is creamy and the finish is medium long. All very rich and sweet.

Excellent for fans of old (old school) sherry cask aging! However, you have to have the patience to give it time in the glass and in the bottle so that it can fully exploit its complexity.

If you haven't had an Overaged before and don't always have one in reserve afterwards, you've lost control of your life.

An excellent "Overaged". Again a great couvreur without smoky notes.

Sherry notes with lots of sweetness. Fruit notes with plum and dried fruits, berries. Spicy, leathery flavors with the barrel.
    • Taste
      91 91
On the palate it looks really old and settled. Impressive sherry notes with a lot of power. Sweet and spicy flavors from the sherry. Again sultanas, raisins, maybe dates too. Also on the palate leather with spicy oak.
    • Finish
      90 90
The aftertaste is long, very long. With sweetness and lots of spiciness. Raisins in a leather pouch and great oak.

A very fruity, sweet "Unpeated Overaged". I find it about on par with the 2021 version. Both have their merits, both are just good sherry malts.

Nose: Struck matches. Sherry. Not much else. Very restraint. Maybe some tabaccco leaves in the background. Mouth: Quite sweet. Sulphur is not an issue, the little dirtiness is rather an asset. Gives the whisky some rawness and depth. Plums and cherries. Fudge. Cinnamon. Pumpernickel bread. Finish: Medium length. Creamy. Christmas cake.

Have all had the last MCo Overaged - whether explicitly 'unpeated' or 'normal'. This bottling is the best for me! A great blend by Frank & Marco. Fino, PX, Oloroso & Amontillado have been combined into a wonderful composition. Absolutely great for €100!

Wow, finally an unpeated overaged that picks me up. It offers everything I expect from Couvreur, just without the peat part. The previous editions always lacked that certain something, which is not the case here - the finish with the beautiful leather note has something. Such a quality for 100 euros is probably only available from Couvreur these days.

But, as is almost always the case with Couvreur, you have to like a lot of cask influence and sweetness.

But I still prefer the Peated Overaged, because it's a little less sweet.
    • Nose
      90 90
sweet notes of sherry; vinous; dark fruits; plums; raisins; dates; Leather; Spices; old damp wood

Great ripe and complex sherry aromas. Not as young/fresh as the previous unpeated batches, but this time the usual great aromas of the Standard Overaged just without the peat note.
    • Taste
      89 89
powerfully sparkling and spicy; a very present vinous sweetness from the sherry; raisins; dates; damp basement; Leather; Spices; oak seasoning
    • Finish
      91 91
long; sweet-spicy; dried fruits; vinous; beautiful present leather note; old spicy oak wood (delicate-tart without bitterness)

Excellent composition. Mature, multi-layered, complex. In my opinion, there is currently hardly anything comparable good to be found for under €100.
    • Nose
      90 90
Orange peel, overripe citrus fruits, fermented red fruits, leather, mineral barrel notes, dates, spices
    • Taste
      91 91
Sparkling fruit cocktail with raisins, figs, overripe forest fruits, plus dry / vinous notes, mineral and honey sweetness that sets in later, oak bitterness and dryness. Alcohol perfectly matched. Old school sherry notes.
    • Finish
      91 91
Long, dry and pleasantly oaky bitter. Old and sublime, sweet, fruity and astringent.
