ah disappointed, i thought my bottle was spoiled, but it wasn't when I taste another sampler from my friend
    • Nose
      84 84
Peru dark chocolate, ruby port wine for sure, but nothing too complex on nose
    • Taste
      80 80
Watery, the structure is not so clear, but why i can taste rotten grape from this, or should i say half-way fermented grapes, and yes of course it is yeasty.
    • Finish
      80 80
short, tanning dry, that yeasty flavor last to the end

The interesting, partly slightly sour fruit components have to assert themselves against the massive influence of the European oak barrels. This offers a very appealing interplay in aroma and taste. However, leathery dry aromas with a strangely tingling woodiness prevail in the finish. Sometimes very pleasant, sometimes extremely exhausting!
    • Nose
Dark chocolate with a plum jam filling, tobacco, cracked leather, morello cherries, deep black tea that has been steeped a little too long, unripe lemons and pink grapefruit, ripe apricots, one or two cloves are added, brittle, fresh walnuts, and there is also marzipan
    • Taste
Dried figs, plum compote with brown sugar and cinnamon, rosehip jam, tart berries (cranberries, blackcurrant, blackberries), powerful incoming European oak, some root beer, dark chocolate with pink peppercorns, roasted hazelnuts and walnuts, burnt raisins, dark chocolate cake with morello cherries , in between always juicy malty moments
    • Finish
Medium-length finish, becoming dry, deep oak tones, strongly roasted coffee, cloves, cocoa, Assam black tea, worn leather, tart plum, dry rolling tobacco flavored with vanilla, a pinch of pepper, traces of cinnamon, a dash of grapefruit has a refreshing effect in between, but remains dry woody mouthfeel

Unusual at first and pretty much damned to be compared to the almost throuthout very good to excellent contemporary sherry bottlings of the distillery. But if you take your time and let the mal speak for itself, it's quite a taste experience. The 18 which came out a few years later is a tad better, but not much.

Nose: Blueberry HubbaBubba, plums, oily-sweet-sour red fruits, fantastic fruity - excellent scent, slightly alcoholic, a little delicate vanilla, some mint, the fruit flavors are very intense, I can not find any woody notes which makes the nose a little one-dimensional
Taste: syrupy thick, immediately blueberries, in short the alcohol tickles on the tongue, then it becomes sweet and sour, slight bitter notes spread and form a nice contrast to bright aromatic grapes, the taste is very clean, maybe a little bit up, the finish is medium to long, now comes finally spice and wood notes
Conclusion: an extraordinary Glendronach, blindly I would not recognize him as such, the intense fruit flavors are extremely delicious, but I think that Brennereichcharakter and wood flavors come a little too short - is that still whisky?

If it wasn't for the rather disappointing finish, it would be a worthy alternative for Revival.
    • Nose
Really likeable and close to Revival on the nose, with a little added fruitiness. Apricots, apples, oranges. Very complex and entertaining.
    • Taste
Here the difference is quite big, TP is much sweeter, more fruity on berries, peaches, apricots. It gets slightly nutty, there are almonds, caramel, toffee. The typical sherry notes are not as in-you-face as in Revival.
    • Finish
Short, slightly drying, burnt caramel and a pinch of spices, slight fruitiness lingers.

Typisch Glendronach profile with some new influences.
This Port finish adds more red fruit to the mix.
The downside that maybe too much is happening. It's a bouquet of flavors, but don't seem completely in harmony. Very taste nonetheless. Nice if you want to have something different from the regular Glendronachs.

    A delicious sherry bomb!
    • Nose
Sherry, chocolate, orange, deliciously sweet, dried fruit
    • Taste
Oily, Sherry, honey, chocolate, raisins and ooh yes cherry
    • Finish
Long finish with continuous changes. Goodness. First very intense sherry and then dry. A gem.

When pouring the enthusiasm begins already: the color like a rosé wine, the scent is intense port wine barrel, soft, fruity, sweet. You can taste the 46%, Donnerwetter! he pulls in clean, violent start, again comes through the fruity, raisins, sweetness, honey. Not too long finish, but warming, nice and mild. A wonderful aperitif!

Blindwildel: Thank you also for Speedo. This is almost a rarity and a pity that he is rarely to get. A very nice harmonious port whisky. Good work! Unfortunately I am afraid that this will not happen for too long ...
    • Nose
No smoke! Red fruit jelly, some plum, maybe figs, overall strong fruity, nice subtle oak notes, vanilla and chocolate.
    • Taste
Very fruity, slightly oily, the red groats shows cherries, berries and strawberries. The chocolate is overall very round and harmonious.
    • Finish
Long and a bit bitter. The oak of the nose is already present here, but not disturbing.

    • Nose
So sweet on the nose. Berry fruits mostly; Raspberries, blackberries, some cherry and grape. Very fruity indeed. Some chocolate covered orange perhaps. Also there’s a nutty bit in the back and some peculiar spice, can’t really place that. Maybe some dried fruit, as well as dark honey. Cookies, or cereal with the chocolate and dried fruit bits in it. Quite complex and rather lovely.
    • Taste
Quite tingly on the tongue here, must be that slightly higher than average alcohol level. Very sweet again. The dark fruits really charging in here, taking along the honey and chocolate. A hint of mocha. Very thick mouthfeel, really coating the mouth. At the end a slight bitter note, but really only slight. The berries and grapes lead the overall flavour profile.
    • Finish
The bitter note continuing on, after which the sweetness comes back quite strong. Again it’s the berries that are obvious, but the honey covered chocolatey dried fruits (whatever that is) are also still in the game. The finish is medium to long.

    • Taste
Pflaumen, dunkle Früchte, leicht malzig, leichte Bitterkeit, Eiche, Kirschen, Himbeeren,
    • Finish
Im Abgang leicht würzige Eiche, die leichte Bitterkeit bleibt bestehen, leicht malzig.

  33. Gloin scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Smell: sweet red fruits, oak and alcohol, all harmoniously blended. I imagine finding hints of vanilla and caramel behind it. Do the bourbon barrels come through here? Taste: It starts again with sweet red fruits and also in the mouth followed by some oak, but less than in the nose. The longer you hold it in the mouth, the sweeter it gets. Tasty and tasty. A liquid sweetmeat. Finish: malt, oak without bitterness, currants, unfortunately only medium in length Conclusion: I like it very much. A very direct whisky with lots of sweet fruit notes and a clear port profile. Could be something like an archetype for a port-matured whisky. If you like Portwhiskys you will be happy here. 88 points.

At first I was a bit reserved when tasting this one, it was not like other Glendronachs' which I find adorable in most cases. However, giving this some time and by realizing that this is not the ordinary Oloroso or PX matured Glendronach that I usually zip, it has grown on me. This is a fine quality dram, sure it's different but there are quality casks and good distillation all over it. I tried to put aside that this is a Glendronach and considered it as a port matured whisky. It's lovely.

    (Rating interval 83-86)
    • Nose
Caramel, some pink pepper, sour red and black currants, hints of coffee, butterscotch, bitter dry orange peel and some light perfume.
    • Taste
It's sweet and spicy on the palate, with aromatic oak, honey, nutmeg, rose water, vanilla and brown sugar.
    • Finish
The finish is medium in length with sour cherries, again rose water, brown sugar and some bitter black fruit breakfast tea.

N: Sticky xmas sherry nose, dense, sweet, potent number. Its the kind of nose that you could find anything if you looked hard enough. Aside from all the obvious, popadoms and sultanas, sweet and sour prawns, rum in a coconut, some exotic salty crisp flavour,
T: Thick, rich, tart sweetness, woody, fresh and buttery, so buttery and slightly oily
F: Comes out the other side with more coconut flakes, sherried raisins and port for

sure. Lots of cooled cooked butter at the death and fresh liquorice wood oil.
C: One to enjoy as an occasional dessert dram as its a bit swamped. Its rather nice, its classic Glendronach but the 15 revival is better.

Needs some time in the glass as well as some warmth, then it opens up and delivers warm and deep flavors.

    Tasting with Armin Fuchs.

Don't take it with too much water! Some drops are enough!
    • Nose
Fruitiness with strawberries and raspberries, not the ones put into dark rum, but from a fruit salad! Hints of coffee. Slightly christmas style
    • Taste
Intense and overwhealming! Typical port attributes. Strawberry syrup, raspberries with some cinnamon With water: Bitterness rises (coffee and hazelnuts) and fruitiness suffers!
    • Finish
Medium and quite bitter! The fruitiness vanishes immediately! I recognize the gentle bitterness of currants, maybe some coriander!

It is well balanced and has an amazing finish for a 15 year old. Nice
