  1. Archer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Another very tasty bottling. It doesn't quite have the depth of last year's 15yo Oloroso Cask Matured, but this is still a very nice example of a very successful Oloroso cask aging with a pure Campbeltown feeling.
I already had it as a sample at the Springbank Society tasting at Cadenhead's Cologne in April 2023, now again as a dram from the bottle. I can only confirm my very good impressions from the Society Tasting.
    • Nose
      90 90
Already feels creamy on the nose, wonderful aromas from the Oloroso barrel, like there are: raisins, black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, old leather, tobacco leaves. Even if it has a very slightly musty note in the background, it shows no signs of sulphur. Mineral like a Springbank, earthy, loamy, moist deciduous forest soil. love it
    • Taste
      89 89
Very creamy and viscous entry, endlessly soft despite its almost 50% ABV. Cherry jam, dates, fresh figs, raisin bread, blackberries. The bronze color in the glass as a taste on the tongue. Mineral, maritime, blind I would guess a hint of peat smoke. Almond slivers, pecan pie, dark chocolate. Some cayenne pepper and marjoram.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length, still creamy, slightly woody spiciness, earthy, still the fruity notes, peat smoke now more obvious - slowly nobody needs to tell me anymore that Hazelburn is unpeated. This may be related to the malt, but obviously there is still enough peat smoke "sticking" in the system to give the impression of at least a lightly peated whisky.
