Cream Sherry is like PX, isn't it? Despite the refill, this is a veritable sherry bomb that takes no prisoners. Nice tobacco in the nose and chocolate in the mouth. Pleases!

Even the color made it clear: sherry bomb. Intense tobacco notes, I can't resist. Then cherry syrup, chocolate cream cake, or even better Black Forest cherry.
    • Taste
      87 87
Creamy, chocolaty start, oak with notes of coffee, which makes it a little sharper. Then dry and warming.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium length, the sherry notes dominate.

Creamy, nice notes of sherry, chocolate, pleasant sweetness, alcohol well integrated

Medium length, sweetness remains and then goes over milk chocolate into light oak notes

The Tasteful 8 is an ambitious series from the Brühl whisky house, which was released on the occasion of several tasting events with food pairing.

This is a 14 year old Blair Athol from 2nd Fill Cream Sherry Hogshead. This is a beautifully transparent statement, a 2nd fill hogshead should still have enough power to mature the Blair Athol and still leave enough room for the Highland whisky. Cream Sherry is a PX blended Oloroso, a sherry that is relatively sweet.

    • Nose
A spicy fruit mixture is initially noticeable on the nose, the whisky has strength without being alcoholic. There is fruit compote with cinnamon and nut chocolate, not as sticky as nougat cream - but sweet enough. There are cherries and peaches with vanilla and cinnamon, there is some cardamom too. Oak is present and gives a nice base for the fruity and spicy aromas.
    • Taste
The whisky is quite creamy in the mouth, here it's more of an almond pudding with vanilla and cinnamon, touched with slightly bitter cocoa. The fruits are more in the background but give a sweet base. There is a hint of very ripe blackberry with peach that I would like a little stronger. A few drops of water are not absolutely necessary, but strengthen the nutty-spicy aspect, which is good for the whisky.
    • Finish
With a little water, the aftertaste is more lasting on the nutty-spicy side with a pleasant oak aroma.

A nice Blair Athol with a good balance of flavors that is easy to drink. At just under €100, it's not cheap and costs more than I would pay for it.

Intense whisky, lots of sour cherries, nuts, some smoke, some coffee, lots of aroma.

This is a very good whisky overall. Sweet, ripe nose. The second fill Sherry cask did a great job! Full palate. Lingers with a mouth watering finish on the tongue. Nice, nice!

    • Nose
The first nose very fruity with strawberries, sour cherries. forest honey. Behind it, subtle menthol and a light herbaceous note. Matching the first Advent I also find a few twigs. The picture of wild strawberries at the edge of the forest opens up. Over time, some acid will be added.
    • Taste
On the palate first berries and then the alcohol becomes noticeable for the first time. And not too tight, sizzles quite well on the tongue (first dram today). Already better with the second sip and there is a nice sweet-fruity, slightly spicy game.
    • Finish
      Tasty oak spice when swallowing
Unfortunately, it doesn't stay on the palate for long.

Sherrsky - there were probably still a few liters of sherry in the cask. If you like that, you're in good hands.
    • Nose
      84 84
Pure sherry, sweet, slightly musty, prunes. Alcohol very well integrated. A few herbs, especially lovage.
    • Taste
      82 82
Sweetness again, then a noticeable, but for 53.7% gentle start, hardly any sharpness. Lots of sherry but also a little watery for the abv. Herbs, maybe a hint of distillery character here. Brief flash of bitterness.
    • Finish
      81 81
Fades away sweetly but not very intensely on the sherry.

In my opinion, this one has nothing to do with Blair Athol anymore. The cask, sherry, dominates the whole spirit. Though, this bottling has no noticable off-notes, for me, there is noting noticeable left of the distillery character.
