Thanks Whisky.Hedonist.MY. for this sharing. Tasting with cask 1144.
    • Nose
Much complex than 1144. Orange, marmalade, dried fruit, fig, cinnamon, honey and also some hay on the bottom.
    • Taste
Strong tannin mouthfeel from the long aging in the barrel. Surprisingly well balance with the fruitiness
    • Finish
      Lovely finish. Sweet candied

Doing a side by side with cask 1144, sister cask
    • Nose
      93 93
Similar to the 1144, but not so powerful, this is more elegant, but it's a lot 'dirtier' than the 1144. Same oranges, but with some earthy notes, which make this nose very interesting. Damped earth, with some grassy notes too. It becomes even more complex when some saltiness appears after a few sips, and a very nice waxiness. The dried fruits notes comes pretty late, but better than never.

Awesome sweetness, fruit candies, creamy and confectionery. Dried fruits, and some bitter oranges. More oranges, and more fruitiness after a few sips. Some honey as well.
    • Finish

Long, with cough sweets, little bit of lemon, and lime, dark chocolate, espresso, and becomes slightly dry after some 20 seconds.

Between this one and cask 1144 57.4% I think cask 1144 is a little better balance wise.

Dark fruit nose, mixed with old leather, roasted nuts, hints of orange emerge, caramel and wafer
    • Taste

oh this is bitter and woody but the bitterness id from the fruit on show which is not what I was expecting.
Salted caramel, glazed fruits, plenty of spices, with the stewed fruit bitterness remaining.

This tastes old and the oak is starting to shout but it is still ok as the sherry is of quality.

      Long, spicy, keeps going

With water the nose improves, and the palate gets sweeter and more syrupy. this is better with water.

This whisky shows its age but I like it, quality casks, not top draw but nice nonetheless,
