Unfortunately, it's been too long since I had tasted a Miyagikyo Single Cask.
What a dram. I have rarely had so much chocolate on the palate, and the smoked weft provides magnificent complexity.

We're here on a big chunk. And yet despite the 60% we feel great finesse.
Lots of varnished wood, a touch of solvent. Vanilla.
Yellow and red fruits. Apricot, gooseberry jam, toasted almonds.
      Pepper, nutmeg, bark. Slight smoke.
    • Taste
      92 92
In the mouth the dram takes another direction.
An orgy of chocolate. Cocoa, black, powder. Candied orangette.
Always lots of spices. Pepper, nutmeg.
      Roasted almonds, salted butter caramel.
Leather, animal, fat, light barbecue. Wood.
    • Finish
      92 92
Long finish on cocoa, leather, grison on the barbecue.
Light peat and still a nice smoke. Chocolate orangette. Fresh cherry that stays forever.

Sorry guys, the 10cl sample that I got and tasted did not reveal a great whisky. A bit dry, a bit metallic, not the kindest cask influence of bourbon/oak or sherry. I just can't detect the greatness, 80P for me. More for you, lovers of Japanese whisky..

This whisky is very complex and very well done. Nothing to do with traffic jams OB 12 and 15 years.
    • Nose
Very warm, varnished wood, it is very spicy, notes of smoke not peat is animal, cook, cooked fruit, a lot of sugar (caramel, vanilla).
    • Taste
Dry, sweet / salty, on spices, wood, sherry, orange, dark chocolate, also peat this time. The fruits are hidden by all this animal profile.
    • Finish
Very long, smoke, fruity (finally). Top!

    Great whisky!
    • Nose
At first contact it gives a lot of sweetness, burned fruits, wood varnish, dark chocolate, sherry notes, honey, cherry, sweet grapefruits, wood floor polish paste, hints of marzipan and white pepper.
    • Taste
It starts with strong fruity sherry, dryness, fruity sweetness and after a few seconds spices come into play with white pepper, chili, white grapefruit sourness, dryness, herbs, burned cherry, vanilla, honey and sweet cream.
    • Finish
Very long, fruity, sweet, dry, chocolate, intensive filled with pepper, citrus and herbs.
