NOSE: Fruity, bourbon cask aromas; fresh and dried yellow fruits like banana, mango, yellow plums and papaya. Fresh (green) apples. Coconut shavings, vanilla custard. (89p) After some time another layer of (sherry cask like) aromas appears; dried red fruits, dried figs, dates, a touch of aniseed and allspice, a whiff of cigar smoke. (90-91p) Then it alternates again...
TASTE: The arrival is both citrusy and creamy. On the mid palate more citrus, quite a bit of acidity. (86p).
FINISH: Citrus, fresh ginger, lemongrass. Medium long aftertaste (88p).
OVERALL: Very citric and a bit unbalanced. Although I think most whisky drinkers may feel that this is too acidic, this one was quite to my liking. A few drops of water made it a little softer and rounder. Interesting. Somewhat of a maverick whisky. Ideally served as an appetiser before a meal. Highland style. Total score 88 points.
