Nice fruity sweet malt. Very intense and varied in aromas. I like this greasy, slightly smoky note very much. Smell is the highlight of the malt for me. Class!

Intense and strong on the nose. Gives a lot of fruit in the direction of dark fruits like dates, cherries, plums. In addition a fine nut aroma. The whole slightly greasy with some smoke. Nice BBQ feeling. Spices of cinnamon and nutmeg in the background.
Alcohol affects me. Not uncomfortable but still noticeable. But it quickly gets lost in all the diverse aromas.

Slightly sparkling, very spicy. The alcohol was even clearer on the nose, here it was hardly noticeable and far from any sharpness. But he still has power. Lots of oak spice with raisins, dates, plums. Here also slightly sour cherries. But it all goes together pretty well. The whole thing is complemented very nicely by really light smoke.

Medium length finish, warming in the mouth, slightly dry, fruity with more sweetness.

Tried it yesterday with a VERY good friend. We agreed: the nose is multi-layered, could have smelled it forever. Fantastic sherry notes. On the palate: deliciously sweet (but not too sweet), dark chocolate, some leather, dates, warming. Dangerously (!) tasty. Tolerates water, but doesn't have to, can also be tasted very well at cask strength. Very strong bottling, I'm already looking forward to Cigar Malt VII.

The nose of this whisky is tremendous. Great 'old-school sherry notes' (old books, Leather, fresh tobacco, study...). The palate is more into the PX flavours (sweetness), which I don't prefer as much as the Oloroso tang. All in all it is an 'above-average' malt.

Bacon, then dates and figs, dark chocolate/espresso (Orange Jaffa Cake). An old leather chair is in a wood paneled room in the background I have the feeling someone is smoking a cigar. It smells like an old man's room.

In the mouth sweet at first, again the Jaffa Cake, some Black Forest ham, then something bitter like dark chocolate. A kind of fig jam.

After the first tasting, I have to say that an unpleasant trend is developing with cigar malts: I don't think the alcohol is well integrated. Both of them burn quite a bit, especially in terms of taste, and not just because of the high alcohol strength. This was not the case with Batch 2,3,4. Too bad, but the PLV no longer suits me anyway.
Otherwise a nice strong sherry malt at cask strength. But you can also find that for less money, especially since the distillery is also unknown.

I'm looking forward to the first slightly smoky Cigar Malt.
And yes, I like it. I treated myself to a second dram right away. The malt also works well against a light cigar. Pretty intense. Lots of bang. Not bitter. Slight sweetness. Alcohol well integrated. tasty. Hits my tooth, especially on the palate.
I don't trust myself to be assigned a distillery because of the barrel-heavy nature, even if the greasy smoke, which doesn't look very peaty, more like beech wood smoke, is very specific
    • Nose

Heavy and powerful. Very warm, but by no means overpowering smoke with nuts. Dates wrapped in bacon, bacon corn snack. Some sour fruit behind it, walnuts that are not quite ripe, leather, nutmeg, rotten floorboards.
Alcohol is a little noticeable at first, but you quickly get used to it.
    • Taste
      90 90
Where's the alcohol percentage? For over 53%, it first rolls very gently over the tongue before it tingles a little. Very spicy with raisins, dates, currants. Very balanced, not as sweet as some ADOS bottlings, but also no bitterness. The subtle, very warm and pleasant smoke is noticeable again, which reminds me of long-matured sherried Bowmores. Excellent.
    • Finish
      88 88
What remains is a pleasant mouthfeel of marshmallows by the campfire, raisins and the spice market. medium length
