    My first burbon....
The master of the distillery is Harlen Wheatley, who has served this noble position as the sixth since the Civil War. The predecessor of the above, or Elmer T. Lee, was taught by Colonel Blanton himself, who appeared in the distillery in 1897.
The way of closing bottles is completely unique - each cork is finished with a figure of a rider on a horse in various poses. The entire series of miniature characters consists of 8 editions. A single letter was placed next to each character, which together (8 items) form the Blanton's inscription. And the jockey makes a full horse riding move

    • Finish

    Rating for barrel: 529 !!

    Aroma / Nose feeling:
As soon as the cork is removed, gentle vanilla and already spicy oak spill into the nose. The fresh oak barrel has done a good job. Despite the 51.5% ABV, the bourbon is in no way sprittig. The alcohol combines harmoniously with pleasing sweet notes such as among others. Eggnog with cream, tonka bean, tiramisu, ripe banana and cocoa with rum. Nevertheless, you can still feel all the power that is in this bourbon. Of course, the wood between the soft tones shows again and again and reminds me of graphite and pencil sharpener remains. I like the aroma of Bourbon (and Rye). The fragrance calms me down immensely. Mag vlt. lying on the omnipresent vanilla.

    Taste / mouthfeel:
A delicious digestif with this incredible sweet! A sweet candy, in which one wishes that it will never be finished sucking. The spiciness of the wood tingles in the mouth and gives the bourbon character. Orange, caramel, creme brulee mate with green wood and stimulate salivation. Every sip gets even juicier.

    Finish / aftertaste / Length:
The medium length finish is strong and warms the entire body. Just the thing after a Christmas market visit. Only slightly bitter is the Nachschmecken. Maybe even a bit salty, whereby the departure is basically also influenced by the sweetness. Something menthol fresh and cold espresso form for me the conclusion of this beautiful Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey.

    Diluted to approx. 46% ABV:
The Bourbon does not win for me. In the nose the impression of damp wood becomes stronger and on the palate it gets a little drier. Overall, I would say that the bourbon is less round in direct comparison by water.

    Overall impression / comment:
This bourbon (other barrel) was my first bourbon a few years ago. It may be that I'm not really objective because of that, because I was really excited about it at the time, but even today I have to say that I like Bourbon in general and others. especially like it very much. A welcome change and more enjoyable, albeit easier in relation to enjoyment.

It really feels good, but I can not really appreciate it personally. This is how I end up experimenting with bourbon, I know for sure that they are not my blood group. If any of America, even after a good experience with Sazerace some of the rye (rye).
    • Nose
In the smell of a box of Christmas candy, for which she is slightly crooked, and bloody blooming. It's easy there, but it's there.
    • Taste
The taste is dominated by chocolate and again, though not distinctly, bourbon. I suppose I should not be surprised at the bourbon, I know.
