    • Nose
      big wine notes from the nose. After penetrating the wine layer, get some leather.
    • Taste
      Wine, then on to sweet fruit, sweet cocoa, a few notes of egg yolk , a few spices and cinnamon.
    • Finish
      a bit of metal, lots of raisins .

    This limited edition bottling celebrates the ancient and historic seat of Clan MacKenzie and is the second in a series crafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson in homage to Clan MacKenzie. This classic Vintage 1995 expression was matured initially in American white oak and Spanish sherry wood, before being transferred for a final 18 months to barriques from a legendary 1st cru classe Bordeaux chateau.

      Sherry and malt. Vanilla, raisin and milk caramel. Acidic wines and salted minerals.
    • Taste

      Dry. Big oak and spices. Salty buttery popcorn and cocoa. Port wine.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Medium length, spicy, bittersweet.

    Strong flavors of fleshy plums, raisins and citrus fruits are replaced by the silky soft notes of kiwi, honey, candied pear and sweet mango. Ground almonds, spicy ginger, caramel and fine liquorice flavors form a perfect finish.

    Again a good Dalmore whisky.
    • Nose
      Malty. Butterscotch and a little salty (seaweed). Red wine. Some oak, vanilla and hints of chocolate and raisins. Tingling.
    • Taste
      Very dry. Red wine, malt and vanilla. A little salty. Also wood (oak) and a hint of butterscotch.
    • Finish
      After a pleasant little pepper the freshness from pineapple. Also raisins, chocolate and malt. At the end a little bitterness from orange peel.

    A nice Dalmore expression and a good score from me, but admittedly I think that the price-quality is slightly off (100 pounds at the distillery shop). 
    • Nose
      Salty and buttery. Malty as well, and a big red wine note. Chocolate sweetness, oak, raisins and vanilla/fudge.
    • Taste
      Very drying. Red wine again, almost like Port wine. Malt, chocolate, an oily layer on the tongue. Vanilla sweetness, fruity freshness and a very full body to this. Oak notes and a bit of grass/hay at the back.
    • Finish
      Medium length. Chocolate notes as well as malt, butter, dark fruits (raisins, grapes, plums).

    Celebrating the historic headquarters of the Mackenzie Clan, Leod Castle, Dalmore Distillery offers us a 1995 vintage version of its single malt.

    Located north of Inverness in
    near Cromarty Firth, this castle was renovated around 1606 by Sir Roderick Mackenzie,
    Earl of Cromartie, whose family and descendants played a prominent role in history
    from Scotland. A limited series of 5000 bottles for the world.
