Grain can be so beautiful when aged properly. This is a bit of whisky history in a glass, eh? Thank you, Chris, for the sample.
I get quite a lot of grains on the nose (no kidding, huh?), vanilla and coconut. Surprisingly lively for its age. A whiff of furniture was gives it some depth. Reminds me of varnish. All of it very soft. Sweet popcorn and some white choclate. A bit rummy.
On the palate it is light and lively as well, nicely seasoned with nutmeg and a mintleaf. Apart from the coconut I also get quite some banana. You notice the oak, but it is not drying at all. Very good.
The long finish is like After Eigth, the mint-filled choclate. Rather short, though.
