  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

I like it great today. Especially the spicy oak leaves a decent impression.
    • Nose
sweet, spicy, sherry and neat oak, very spicy orange, slightly sour.
    • Taste
unusual profile, sweetish, oak, sherry aromas, some matches, also some plastic.
    • Finish
Pepper, sherry, oak, light match, more pepper at the end.

  2. Timo scored this whisky 77 points Expert Junior

good one from a gone distillery
    • Nose
dry fruits, raisins, fruity, perfume, grassy, woody
    • Taste
more dry fruits, fruity, komplex, sweet, malty, round, bitter
    • Finish
lightly smoke, bitter, oily, spicy, dry, warm, not so long

  3. Willie JJ scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

They tried hard with this one to give us a good example of Pittyvaich, but there were good reasons that they flattened the place in my opnion. The wonderful winey quality of this works hard, but there's always that disharmony from the spirit that stops the potential greatness. All that said there are enough good things about this to ensure that I won't mind drinking it.
    • Nose
Winey and a little stinky with plenty of christmas cake notes alongside a wet cardboard and mushroom vague sense of decay. It's clear that some nice casks were used here but there are notes in the Pittyvaich spirit that just don;t smell very good.
    • Taste
It's the same on the palate. There are some classy sherry notes (I suspect Oloroso), but they sit alongside a musty dankness that just detracts a little from the experience.
    • Finish
Some genuine excitement here with powerful spice and mixed peel overwhelming the off notes. A bit drying but very nice.

  4. MaltMartin scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Not as bad as the reputation of Pittyvaich in general. Nose is not very promissing, but I like the taste.
    • Nose
Sherry, sweet, but also cardboard and sulphur.
    • Taste
Malty, dry sherry (quite intense actually). Some vanilla. Not very complex, but enjoyable thpugh.
    • Finish
Medium long, soft on the tongue.

With some drops of water: no flavor-expansion, becomes only less intense

    Nice tasty and interesting Malt.
    • Nose
raisins, pepper, almonds, orange, some sherry, no smoke but spices ... some indian masala?
    • Taste
vanilla, sweetness, pepper, walnut, cloying wood. A hint of mushroom? A whiff of smoke. Really comlex and uncommon.
    • Finish
      moderately warm and long
