The malt spent its first three years in ex-peated casks that previously contained rum. Bottled at the usual 49.4%vol. for limited bottlings of Lindores.

Color: Pale gold. Reminiscent of white wine.

Nose: Yup...definitely Lindores. The young whiskies, to me, always have something that reminds me of the fermentation process. Anyone who has ever visited a distillery and held their nose too deep into the washbacks understands what I mean. Second association is cookies and the typical fruit notes of Lindores (apple and pear), with the pear dominating. The smoke is brilliantly integrated. Not at all dominant, but still perceptible. In addition, more than a hint of vanilla.

Taste: Very light with a hint of pear. Otherwise, but rather grass and herbal notes. All in all, not very complex. With three years of aging but also not too surprising. The smoke is quite lightly perceptible, but goes rather in the above-mentioned herbal notes.

Finish: Quite short, with oak and a delicate spiciness.

Verdict: The highlight here is in the nose. It's a malt that fits the summertime. Light, fruity and not overpowering. A nice experience to be able to taste a Lindores from an ex-peated cask for once. For a member bottling I find it, especially as far as the taste is concerned, rather a little disappointing. There can and may come a little more in the future. But hey, to put the whole thing again in a different light...we have to do here but also FIRST with a three-year-old malt.

    Slàinte,
    Marc
