Straight out, easy to drink and delicious.
    • Nose
      86 86
Pear, alcohol stings a little. Light smoke noticeable. With much goodwill, one can anticipate the "Kilchoman Strawberry".
    • Taste
      87 87
Mild solid smoke, more like campfire smoke from wet wood.
    • Finish
      86 86
      medium length

(Blind sample which was later resolved)
Find this batch after the 2017 more successful than the previous ones.
Uh, I don't like the squib note on the late exit at all; but that was very appealing before. I can turn a blind eye to that.
    [86 - 82 = good whisky -> get (second) bottle? Maybe...]
    • Nose
      89 89
greasy smoky note, dark fruits (figs/dates), red fruits (cherries); earthy, musty (in a good way). The sherry influence is noticeable, but not overpowering.
Something nutty hides in the background. More sweetness over time, brown sugar, marzipan (reminds me of the 2017).
Once you get used to the "smoky note" it gets sweeter and sweeter.
With a lot of air contact, it looks more quartzy.
    • Taste
      86 86
spicy, dark fruits; the peat smoke is right there; slight sweetness - not quite as sweet as it was on the nose; something malty, but more in the background. Nutty.
      getting drier.
2nd Sip: sweeter, herbal, spicier; honey, caramel; peat smoke again, but a little less than the first sip; and the greasy smell from the nose is also there, but not as bad.
Nutty character, but without being able to go to a specific nut. Slight bitterness, tart note - is just about within limits (for me).
    • Finish
      81 81
Peat smoke, nutty, dark effect (cherry aroma). wood seasoning.
With some time: ignition pads.... ahh, that's a miss for me; nonetheless, overall very well done.

Starts with BBQ sauce and bacon. When the smoke has dissipated a bit, comes raspberry, really fruity and sweet raspberry, I like it a lot!

This is an excellent version of the annual Loch Gorm release. Beautifully peated with notes of honey glazed bbq bacon and roasting thyme and lavender over a camp fire. Pleasant medium long film finish. Very consistent and harmonious in its flavor patterns from beginning to end.

Very fruity, only subtle smoke (very pleasant), smoked ham.
    • Taste

On the tongue with strawberries, herbs, bacon, smoke. Dry and yet with a full mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium-length finish, focus on herbs + smoke, only very little fruit
