Anyone who took part in the cask division here will not grieve. The final price of the bottle was almost outrageously cheap for the participants by today's standards.
I like the malt. No missing notes. Wonderfully integrated alcohol. Not a worn-out barrel. Reminiscent of clean bourbon aging a la Deanston 12.

From the freshly opened bottle, I allow the dram to air out for 20 minutes to acclimatize.
The scent flows very sweetly from the glass with what you can expect from a bourbon barrel maturation. Light fruits, a bit grassy, vanilla, honey, shortbread. I classify the fruits as green apple, kiwi gold, fully ripe nectarine and vineyard peach. A hint of citrus.
I would have underestimated the alcohol based on the nose. A little over 50% yes, but not necessarily 57.5%.
A little more shy and reserved with water at first.

Pleasantly warming start with a very present honey sweetness at the beginning. In addition, hay, citrus fruits and quickly a short flaring spice with oak, nuts, nutmeg.
Water makes him a little more approachable and teases out some cocoa. Citrus then a little more dominant.
    • Finish

Delicate bitter notes contrast with the previously dominant sweetness. But that goes away quickly and the drinkable takes over again. Something slightly sour-fruity, fermented, which I often notice in the finish at Glenfarclas. Nice presence.
With water, the finish loses some of its intensity, but is still appealing.
