- Not bad, but you have to like the tree sap and all the greenery. The notes of "breakfast" are rather mine. Full review (in german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/04/02/zwei-unabhaengige-old-pulteney/
- N: Two Pulteney’s today. Lets start with the older-younger one, an undisclosed single cask bottled a month shy of its 13th birthday. Some wood oils and mushy peas with white pepper and sappiness - but this is a natural, cereal led, bourbon cask malt if ever I’ve known one.
T: Is it sweet, is it sour? - bits of both, with an oak sappiness subdued by the barley porridge. Adding lots of water brought out a few candy notes but they weren’t very forthcoming.
F: Green>waxy=oily oak into the finish with an amiable freshness, buffed up once more by that lovely barley spirit. More green-oak at the death and some sticky blackberry pollen - almost soapy but i’ll let this go.
C: Super polite, cask strength single cask offering. Fairly basic but fully competent barley spirit that would have devoured a more talkative cask.
