A walk on the nightly harbour, a very soft breeze of sea air and whiffs of diesel and iodine things. The peat has transformed into beautiful herbal notes, hemp, sisal and the likes. Bags of fruits - yet with little acidity, unlike these tropical Laphroaig or Bowmore, rather cooked to a thick but delicate paste. The sherry is most unobtrusive and adds texture and binds all the mentioned flavours together. Again, diesel, hemp, on the nose in an eternal loop. Perfect? Here´s the problem, the 40%. Sadly, not like some hard hitters who take the 40% well, but just a bit too thin. But the profile, character, complexity and balance is BREATHTAKING, therefore it commands the high points. This with 43% would have been killer, and at cask strength and we´re at 98 points.
