Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Big on lemony, citrusy notes, with hints of zest and intensely sweet
freshness. Notes of apricots too, and a subtle sherried character.
Palate: Big and bold and very fruity with Arran's signature zesty/maltiness and pepper.
Finish: Sweet and fruity, coffee notes and nutmeg.
- Nose: a very interesting combination of lemon zest zing , some toasted oak, a sweet, sugary toffee kind of feeling to it, no big sherry notes here. Fresh. Vibrant and balanced.
Palate: Sweet sugars up front, with the wood backing it up, introducing some bitter cocoa notes, as well as touches of vanilla and butter. As the time passes , the cocoa and bitter chocolate is more evident, in addition to some spice.
Finish : Bitter cocoa and wood, on top of some malty notes, and spices.
This is a fine dram, though i must say, i was hoping for something a bit like the “Rowan Tree” with some heavier Sherry influence, and this one is not quite the same profile. It’s a well integrated whisky, with some fresh zest, as well as wood, cocoa and malt influences. It’s really balanced, but it is not as good as the last edition in my honest opinion.
- A nice daily dram, especially at the original price. Could be a powerful one at cask strength.
Very fruity. Apples, oranges, mandarines, cherries. Nuts, coconut, a hint of mint. At the end, a tiny bit of organic solvents and acetone.
Sweet, dominated by fruity and floral notes. Light fruits - citrus, apples, grapes, a bit of milk chocolate. A very small amount of wooden notes.
Short, spicy and dry. Dominated by wooden notes with spices.
Flavourful, appetizing. Mellow apples, greenery, juicy pears, dried apricots, creamy-sweet, confectionery, vanilla/custard, caffè mocha.
Sweet initially, nuts, marine saltiness, then tart, bitter orange, slightest astringency of oak then.
Mainly: bitter notes of citrus, lemon zest, mandarin dried peel, mild spice. Admittedly, lasts long enough.
