Overall the better bottling of the two Glenfahrn I had. The finish kind of burns into the sensory system, which I thought was pretty cool. In terms of taste, however, it briefly had a tendency to spill a little over it due to the soap. Luckily it kept its balance.

Old Pulteney 2006 - 2022, 53% alc. Bottler: Glenfahrn. Expansion: Bourbon Cask No. 736 (Barrel)

Nose: Slightly maritime and fruity, very gentle. I smell apple pie next to light vanilla, light currants and a hint of gooseberry jelly, along with freshly sliced white bread with salted butter. For a moment I have to think of honeydew melon and pineapple.

Palate: Again buttery and sweet. Vanilla and caramel meet gooseberry and pineapple, plus a little apricot and latte, before the Old Pulteney then becomes pepperier. Towards the end, grated walnuts and delicate ginger aromas join in.

Finish: Medium to long, closely resembling the palate. Pear drops and pineapple, then significantly more spice. Ginger, sea salt and pepper complete the tasting with a slightly spicy component.

Conclusion: Old Pulteney in single cask and cask strength, two great prerequisites. Here we have a typical Pulteney in the nose, which complements the palate and finish with a slight sharpness. 86/100 points (2022)
