A really nice whisky that is very woody. Bitterness and sweetness are exactly balanced. The smoke has dissipated to such an extent that it underscores the ensemble and does not overlay it.
The oiliness reminds me of my beloved Craigellachie 23.

Orange compote, apricot jelly, vanilla, candle wax, lamp oil, cloves and almonds. Blooming flower meadows and a blooming rapeseed field.
Light, light wood and for me a very delicate and subtle smoke (smoked sausage).
    • Taste
      90 90
A spicy and, above all, concise but elegant note of wood (precious wood) emerges. You have to like it, but then it's awesome. Very oily, settled and ripe.
Preserved light fruits with pears and apricots. Orange peel and blood oranges.
The smoke underscores the whole thing, but doesn't overlay anything.

Medium length with spice and burnt campfire (wood). You can still taste the elegant precious wood minutes later.

Really good Islay IB. Presumably Ardbeg 25. Rather intense with peatsmoke, brine and citrus on the nose. Consistent on the palate with a tad salt added. Lasting finish, mainly peatsmoke and citrus.

Very nice Islay malt. Could indeed be an Ardbeg. A nice sweetness, the salt, the ash, light citrus notes - recommended!

The price for the release was €329.00. At this price, the bottle was offered by the bottler and individual dealers.

Where should I start here, just great. According to the bottler, a "secret" Ardbeg, 1993 and 1994 Vatting, which was then distilled by the Laphi team to keep the distillery in good shape. With 407 bottles, there should be 2 (ex-bourbon) hogsheads. The peat is still nicely present with sweet and salty notes on the maritime side. A bit of air, about 30 minutes, is really good for him, now the aromas unfold, with citrus fruit and from the nose to the mouth to the finish with wonderful light old school notes, which is unfortunately very rare now.... A real highlight for me these days! TopPLV. Update: after the 3rd-4th Dram within 6 days is my recommendation: Definitely give it at least 30-45 minutes of air, then the beautiful old school notes unfold, don't rush, otherwise you'll miss the best!!
