Linkwood is a favourite distillery of mine, so when I stumbled upon this bottle for £120 in The Whisky Shop Inverness I took a chance and bought it - apparently it was the last one in stock. It's a delicious full-bodied dram with a nose that offers plenty of depth. However, it needed to oxidize in the opened bottle for a good half year before really coming into its own.
Golden sultanas, overripe pineapple, rum, liquorice, beeswax, jasmin tea, white pepper, cinnamon, leather, oak
Full and mouth-coating, malty-sweet, with a distinct bitterness that's typical of Linkwood. Orange marmalade, dried mulberries and gooseberries. Not overly complex, but delicious.
Long-ish with gooseberry and tropical fruit.
