A little more alcohol would have been good for the whisky, despite the rum finish it doesn't taste like rum, but it's still pleasant to drink.

Perfume, dried fruit, some oak, you expect more flavor than you get afterwards.

Vanilla, I taste no rum influence

"THE PERFECT EXOTIC ESCAPE, MADE BY A TINY ISLAND COMMUNITY
Jura Cask Editions celebrate the connection between the land and spirit. Bringing distinct regional flavours of selected casks from around the world to our island malt. This rum cask edition explores the world of cask finishes from the Caribbean.

This mouth-wateringly smooth, yet vibrant whisky delivers flavours of sweet vanilla, fudge, coconut and spiced tropical notes."

N: Very nice and fresh right away. The typical Jura funk with fresh banana. Some coconut enters with pineapple and some mango perhaps. Has a nice vanilla and caramel sweetness to it. Some fresh oak. (85)

P: Enters with a nice spicy note, it feels a bit more than 40% and that's good. Maybe I'd say around 45% or in that ballpark. Coconut with pineapple. Sweet exotic fruits. A nice peach compote note. It has a very nice burnt sugar rum note that I love. (86)

F: Could be a little longer. Has a nice spicy "goodbye" with sweet rum notes. (80)

Overall this is nice. Not a must have but a recommended bottle.

It tastes even worse to me today. The basic Jura taste, which I generally don't like too much, is undercut by a rancid, strange taste in the nose and mouth. For me, it doesn't even pass as whisky that you can drink on the side, it's gone.

PLV is great. Bought in a supermarket in France for 23 euros (11/2022)
    • Nose
light, fruity, some oak! Rum? In the alcohol range!
    • Taste
The fruit stays, it's a light dram. Looks nice and simple.
    • Finish
      short and painless ... ;-)

Really not good. I do not know why Jura bother with this awful bottling - it does their brand no good whatsoever.

Apparently it was 'created' in 1 litre bottles for duty free sales, which didn't happen 'cos covid. So the UK supermarkets bought it and discounted heavily. £22 for a Litre 40%

The worst bottle I have bought in the last three years. I honestly would prefer a grain whisky to this.
    • Nose
      60 60
Commercial rum, white oak, masses of toasted coconut - but not whisky. Blind this could be a bounty chocolate bar.
    • Taste
      59 59
No water added. Spicy, slightly bitter burnt caramel, stinging. Again... not whisky.
    • Finish
      56 56
Bitter & sour. The glass is empty & I'm not going to refill.

Insignificant, meaningless whisky. He is obliging if you get involved with it. But neither the rum finish can be guessed, nor do I like the basic note of the whisky.

Well then... I opened the NAS Jura Rum Cask Finish last night and tried it...
Anyone who has tasted fine rum will be disappointed in taste...
But that's not to say that the Jura Rum Cask Finish is all bad...
Styled down to 40 revolutions, it comes across as pleasantly mild and sweet...
There is no smoky note like the Superstition...
When the finish reverberates, there is a taste of rum... but I can't swear to
whether that's actually coming from my taste buds, or whether it's an olfactory reminder of my memory...
Ergo: recommended, but not a must have...
