[March, 2017] I bought this bottle for 59 Euro (116 Deutschmark) in August, 1998 and this is my last saved sample. There are several different batches of the 1974 Ledaig. Except this one all the others are rather weakish (but by no means bad) whiskies. This is most probably the best batch of all 1974 Ledaigs before the distillery owner went bankrupt. Yes, 1972 and 1973 are usually much better - but this release is at least easy drinkable (bottle production code is 19 327).
It is a rounded and spicy malt (pepper, salt and vanilla are all present) that is mouth-coating and with a medium-length finish. All in all a good alternative to over-prized older Ledaig bottlings (If you want to discover the original distillery profile instead of heavy-sherried Ledaigs that mask the distillery completely). But, to be honest, I would not spend more than 150 Euros on this (as of early 2017).
