What was in the barrel before? I'm sure it was Canadian bourbon and it doesn't really differ that much from American bourbon, but it usually has more rye - although you hardly notice it here.
A good and strong whisky between 85 and 87 points. Has interesting aspects and quality, but overall too young and alcoholic at the same time.
The whisky is on sale here, March 23, at Base for 1,200 euros. :-) haha
Twelve years, but despite the cask strength, the flavors are just barley sugar, lots of sweetness and some grain. Slightly citric notes in the background and overall not that voluminous. I still find kiwi and apple.
The simple aromas are harmonious and the alcohol is just well integrated.
On the palate it has much more character. But unfortunately also a little more alcohol and sharpness. The aromas are clearly more in the direction of grain notes, young distillate and brandy, even salty liquorice.
Qualitatively has something of a German distillate. Relatively clean and at the same time tart and thin.
The mouthfeel is slightly oily, spreads short but also powerful. Seems relatively alcoholic and therefore the finish is medium-long, but not particularly enjoyable.
