  2. Ostap scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Very good 12, consistent and balanced, delicate.
    • Nose
Island character does not appear at the beginning, easy, airy, restrained, dried fruits, citrus peels (lemon, tangerine), mineral, fresh wood, soot and rubber, moist soil and peat, fruit and flower soap, melon, dust, cardboard, menthol, fuel oil, raisins, raspberries with cream, sea stones, algae and iodine. Gradually the puzzle is folded into a delicate Ayla.
    • Taste
Dry at first, suddenly turns into enchanting juiciness, sweet, smoke, meat, tart, knits (notes of raw pumpkin), pepper. There is a feeling that the whisky is a little fresh.
    • Finish
Medium plus, dry with crispy oak, knits, pepper, sweet, bitter at the end.

  3. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

Difficult whisky to rate, very much on fwp violets and lavender, a bit of bowmore in the background

[August, 2012]  I had this dram during a birthday tasting of a friend.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 80.  I took no detailed notes.

Really, this is not my favorite - I'm not sure if I will ever empty this bottle.
    • Nose
Little smoky, salty, seaweed, honey and something artificial - probably rubber
    • Taste
Very artificial flowery, violet, perfume, medicine (the bad one)
    • Finish
Medium long, even more medicinal and artificial - it's soapy like a foam bath

this "antique" bottle is a somewhat unobtrusive thing with clearly maritime influences; shows imperturbable charm and is quite interesting.
    • Nose
Honey, salty, gum, slightly tingling in the nose; a few hairy breezes from the sea
    • Taste
      Brine, light smoke, wild nature
    • Finish
smoldering campfire on the palate, the throat filled with sprightly fruit and clear honey, some tar at the back; medium-length finish with saltiness and afterglowing ash

  10. The Macallan scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

This is a delightful Islay whisky, a warm Bowmore with some nice aroma nuances and dito flavors. An alltime favorite.
    • Nose
Gentle smokiness, slightly sweet, caramel, butterscotch and oloroso sherry influences.
    • Taste
Quite full, small explosion of peat, malty with a coating of pepper, heavy and briny.
    • Finish
Dry, firm, long with a wiff of peat and some sweetness.
