As usual in the Säsongswhisky series, nose and palate are once again presented with very unusual impressions with the Limousin, which one does not normally get. Bittersweet and bone-dry, fruity-tart and spicy. The classic vanilla-flowery-fruity notes of a cognac, combined with the typical spicy-berry Mackmyra style and a good portion of oak. Do I like this? Exciting question. Kind of yes, because it appeals to my sense of weird bottlings and new tastes. Somehow no, because it has a bit too much wood for me personally. Somehow yes, because I like the unusual fruit notes. Somehow no, because these bitter notes, which I once called saffron, will not fit every day. Somehow yes, because it fits so nicely into the Säsongswhiskys and definitely forms a worthy conclusion. All in all, I will probably enjoy this whisky if I use it on the right days: with the warmth of my hands on the terrace in the evenings.
    • Nose
A pleasant mixture of sweetness, fruit and herbs comes to me immediately from the Glencairn: vanilla, cranberries, apricot jam, cinnamon, liquorice, heather herbs and sour tangerines dominate the first impression. Light wood, nutmeg and rose petals (?) are in the background while the whisky continues to push vigorously out of the glass. From the nose it is more of a whisky for the warmer days.
    • Taste
My tongue quickly tells me "sweet, herbal, spicy, bone-dry" and saves the first sip under "very pleasant". From the second sip, the aromas start to be broken down: vanilla and apricots, charred wood and ginger, sponge cake and green apples, prunes and roses, nougat and oranges, heather and hmm... maybe saffron (I can’t get the bitter note any other way)? A very wild mix of flavors that fit together and don't ruin each other. Very dry.
    • Finish
Medium length, with dark chocolate and tangerine peel, walnuts and dark oak as well as a dryness that draws your cheeks in properly.

Lovely spicy palate. Nice and fruity. The spice builds and with the fruit is the best feature of this whisky that makes you come back for more.

in the nose the focus is on all the seasoning and spices, very different from what you know from Scotland; if you get involved, you get something interesting.
The nose is kinda fun to explore more.
Significantly different taste than Scots. It's something different, but you have to stand by it.
Not the best Mackmyra, but not the worst either.
    [86 - 82 = good whisky -> get (second) bottle? Perhaps...]
    • Nose
spicy, aniseed, allspice, "woody" (different, but interesting). Slightly floral with time, half a herb garden is also included.
Aniseed and eucalyptus clear your nose...
Then light fruits appear, yellow apple, pear, unripe apricot.
An icing sugar sweetness also gets stronger over time and transitions into a honey sweetness; some vanilla and caramel are added.
    • Taste
herbal start, spicy. Here, too, half the herb garden can be felt on the tongue. It becomes drier and tannins occupy the tongue.
At first you are overwhelmed with all the aromas.
Second sip: fruity, sweet (but not too much), creamy and viscous, aniseed, spiciness and spices (the whole range), honey, caramel, vanilla.
Something floral, like heather, can be tasted. It'll be drier again soon. The Limousin wood note is very concise.
Cognac? I do not find. Oloroso? in homeopathic doses, if you focus on it, maybe in the form of herbs and spices. wine barrel? yes, the tannins that coat the tongue and leave a dry feeling in the mouth.
    • Finish
Herbs, spices, dry mouthfeel, medium to long lasting. Anise. A bit bitter at the back (coffee-herb).

    A somewhat sweaty nose
    Palate: sweet, cherries jubilee
    Finish: stone fruits

The nose takes a point away from the whisky
