Whisky Reviews for Bowmore Darkest
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.27 points
- Really delightful whisky which suggests youth but offers a faultless peat/sherry combination.
Tasting notes by: Jim Murray
Fresh, wonderfully clean Oloroso clings to the oak and peat to form a wonderful trio.
Big and chewy with the sherry and the peat in perfect harmony. Perhaps uncomplex and lacking sophistication, but the balance is quite stunning.
Long with a hint of molasses/liquorice adding to the toasty malt and rumbling smoke.
- Not that dark just tawny. Whisky in its mid teens, I would say, but from superb sherry casks.
Tasting note by: Michael Jackson
Fragrantly smoky. Perfumy, very floral. Hessian. Sea air. Astonishingly fresh, delicious, appetising, complex.
Perfumy start. Hint of flowering currant. Nutty. Layers of dry, black treacle, maltiness.
Smooth. Polished stone. Hard, salty, liquorice.
