  1. peatbogger scored this whisky 88 points Specialist

Didn't have too high expectations for this one after finding the Double Cask rather crude.
But this is excellent stuff. Delicious.
Just wondering why they had to color it ???

      Surprisingly soft and gentle.
      Sweet caramel and toffee.
A mix of fruits, oranges, a slightly sour undertone.
A floral waft mix with a hint of smoke which now and then even have a touch of peat.
Water make it more "yellow" on the fruit, more grapefruit than orange.
    • Taste
      90 90
      Oily texture on arrival.
      Sweet, nutty, fruity.
      Gentle spices, some herbs.
Perfect ABV unless you got the bottle and want to experiment. Spices survives a good dash of water, but I feel it gets a little more flat and not as complex.
A complexity that makes it feel a lot more mature than the 15 on the label.
    • Finish
      88 88
      Nutty. Light smoke.
As with all great whisky you are left wishing it lasted a little longer.
Water doesn't change the length, but it is less sweet and it brings out some slightly bitter smoke.
