Nose: sweet red fruit, clearly sherry, raisins, a bit of an alcohol burn. some wood and a hint of malt. With water: The sherry comes more and more forward. hint of liquorish.

Taste: Sweet plums, nicely sour, sweet, bitter development. With water: Sweet white grapes. Some sweet dessert wine, rather nice.

    Body: Rather full and oily.

Finish: short-medium: Cherry, confectionery, This is a duffer that it doesn't last long. Very sweet sweets.

    Price: A little expensive.

Presentation: Don't know this was a sample.

Comments: I think this one is quite underrated.

    With Water

The nose has more chocolate with the sherry now.

The palate has fallen away so only a few drops maximum but the finish is still long.

    Another good Balblair from G&M
    • Nose
The usual fruitiness is there with the sherry but I also get honey comb mixed in with the fruit which is slight strawberry, plum and a little pear.

It smells very rich and the longer it is in the glass the richer it smells, certainly richer than first fill sherry as indicated?
    • Taste
Crikey that's quite smooth for almost 60%, really good.

Rich rum and raisin, some prune and dark rich plum with a little plum sauce and hints of balsamic vinegar.
    • Finish
Long and smooth for the strength.

Pretty sherry, rich enough, who regaled me with its notes of strawberries (although too few) and its dust that poses a certain atmosphere. It would be close to 90, but the alcohol comes a little spoil the party.
    • Nose
Blind session : Hmmmm, it feels good here! A creamy sherry that is needed, with a dusty side, kind was a little rinsed, but it fits him very well. It could be pejorative, but here it is not. Banana, candied oranges, carmelized apples. Then, with time, stealthily emerge very beautiful notes of red fruits, very well defined. Water will accent the pastry side, milk chocolate in the glass.
    • Taste
Ouch, it's powerful, raw, burning ... but it's almost worth it. Very intense, lots of cherries and chocolate. From the first drop, it's really a big arrival of dense flavors. Then come nuts, cinnamon, ginger. With water (phew!), The chocolate is boosted, the dust comes back in strength and stand out very nice notes of strawberries. Oh, how beautiful they are.
    • Finish
A dram that slowly goes out on red fruits.

    • Nose
Sherry, fruity (tropical fruit, mango, bananas), honey, sweet
    • Taste
Honey, oily, fruity (pears, oranges), sultanas
    • Finish
      Long, fruity, fresh

Wonderful dessert dram, well developed for that
relatively young age. This was a feast. And it can take water, but not too
    much.
    • Nose
A nice sweet nose with all kinds of dark fruits, both
juicy and dried. Then loads of nuts: cashew and hazel at the front. Some baked
banana and strawberry jam. Mint for freshness. Water gives it some more earthy
      notes with roots.
    • Taste
Full mouth feel, seasoned on nutmeg, black pepper and
some paprika. Again the dark, dried fruits. Some litchi and apricots
kick in. Cherry liqueur, too. Just a tad of tannins takes care of a great
balance. Adding water makes it sweeter and softens the spices,
      making it dangerously quaffable.
    • Finish
The finish is long, spicy and honeysweet.

Another good whisky. Alcohol is a bit present all the same, especially in the mouth
    • Nose
First on nuts and dried fruits. Then leave room for exotic fruits. It's greedy
    • Taste
Chilli pepper. Strawberry too. Woody and a slight bitterness. With water, it's better. Rounder: sugar cane syrup, chocolate.
    • Finish
Final hot enough (pungent: peppery?), And goes off on a saline side that had not appeared until then.
