Clynelish H2H tasted in this order:-

    14 year 43% Flora & Fauna OB WB 50601 82/80/82
    14 year 46% OB WB 20452 86/70/72
    Distillery Only 2019 48% OB WB 140100 88/87/86
    Distillery Only 2008 57.3% OB WB 1163 86/84/83
    Clynelish Select Reserve 2014 54.9% OB WB 58122 86/86/87
    Clynelish Select Reserve 2015 54.9% OB WB 73373 87/88/88
    Clynelish 1990 27 year 49.5% cask 13155 Ian Macleod Dun Bheagan WB 115893 90/88/90
Clynelish 1996 18 year 54.9% Hunter Laing Platinum Selection WB 62875 WB 90/91/90

The first two OB were disappointing, the 46% 14 year was verging on rubbish, certainly not a patch on how I remember. The next four OB were good and final two IB were excellent.

Nose is good, citrus and cream sums it up nicely.
Palate, rubbish, flat and bitter the fruit is unripe.
    Finish, spicy but bitter
I wonder if there was a problem with the sample?

A great whisky because of its taste, balanced quality and complexity, its price is perfect for this quality. A whisky that will make fans and professionals happy. If it had to be given a subjective rating, it would be a 90.
    • Nose
Gold dress, many tears, regular, fine and fast. It is concentrated on the nose, heady, a marinade of blackcurrant and cherry blossoms, orange blossom, acacia honey. A sweet and surprising sensation of red fruits, acid raspberry. Violet and anise, but also white flesh fruit like pear.Mineral and peppery, a little salty side.
    • Taste
The palate is sweet and concentrated on pear, acacia honey and white flowers, violet and a lactic impression of pear yoghurt. It's tender, sweet and salty, camphor, cocoa, wet rock and zan on the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is moderately long, earthy and mineral.

I´m a sucker for these simple, straightforward clynelishes and could have them every day.
don´ get me wrong, this is not a big whisky. it only satisfies my personal taste perfectly.

    • Nose
I think I could review this by heart, cause I have had so much of that stuff.
lemons, apples , pears, beeswax, wet beach sand, whiffs of smoke. light malt and caramel, slightly gingery
    • Taste
wonderful: coastal and mineral, just the right amount of wax and honey, very little fudge and a hint of a hint of peat smoke. vanilla.
    • Finish
      medium, clean,

Dress: caramel Nose: not very expressive and difficult to decipher. It's round and fruity, some notes a little buttered and a background more mineral. Palate: creamy and warm, a greedy texture with fruit. Final: light smoke, a little drier.
Comment: a whisky quite complex and difficult to access when we start.

Nice summer dram for little money.
    • Nose
Very light and sweet, honey, wax, some straw.
    • Taste
Sweet on honey and malt, there is also butter, apricots and a bunch of spices. Quite mellow though.
    • Finish
      Medium long with spicy sweetness.

  14. The Macallan scored this whisky 70 points Connoisseur

Quite a pleasant whisky, but when it has matured on South African Sherry butts then it's a different story, more exotic flavors.
    • Nose
Floral, sweet and candle wax (reduced: more peatsmoke emerge still some sweety and floral notes)
    • Taste
Maritime influences, smoky flavors with spicy and sweet notes (reduced: much softer and all the flavors from the unreduced situation seems to be lighter and even weaken)
    • Finish
Dry start, briny with a light sweet melange of spices

  15. AlecM scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Nose: waxy, sweet like coconut oil and brown sugar. Hint of flowers. Scented candles.

Taste: sweet, creamy, slightly oily then starts getting a bit salty and drying.

Finish: maritime nature tends to predominate.

  16. Zitch did not rate this whisky Member Junior

    • Nose
Fruity, on the golden green apple
    • Taste
Well salty, suave, woody palate, some coffee notes
    • Finish
Clearly on the wooded side and ash
