    nose

Slightly salty right from the start. Spicy sherry. Very well integrated alcohol, here the smell corresponds well to the age. Slightly maritime, sea and coast and a little port smell? Fruity aromas on top, like a mixed fruit smoothie with sweet but also slightly sour aromas. Slightly waxy, slightly malty, vanilla and honey. A great mix, tasty and yet neatly complex. The wax would probably lead me blindly into a trap here, this nose could also be Clynelish.

    the taste
Here a bit more aggressive from the alcohol point of view, it tickles the tongue a bit. Spicy and tart, further with wax and salt. Leather and grapefruit - interesting combination. Above all, tart and light fruit acid, I find little or no sweetness in the taste. Still a candidate for confusion. I think the sherry has only had a subtle influence here, the aromas are not particularly strongly influenced by the typical sherry aromas. Malty, with some grain and some oak. AT THE MOment this could well be a bourbon cask aging.

    departure
rather short, above all tart and spicy with oak, salt and some wax. Some fruits are added again, but only slightly without being able to name them. The alcohol is okay, it leaves some warmth in the mouth and throat.
A bit of bitterness comes with it. Here I have the feeling that the oak has done a lot of work, but not the SHerry. Must have been a sucked out sherry cask?

    Conclusion
Delicious dram that reminds me a lot of Clynelish at times, unfortunately the nose is much better than the taste. The taste is too one-sided and simply too tart and slightly too alcoholic. Also in the finish a bit too much oak and too much alcohol, but otherwise the flavors would be delicious.

    Very convincing, no, just great!
    • Nose
      90 90
Tasty and waxy, with lots of cinnamon and pineapple, as befits a properly matured Arran.
    • Taste
      90 90
Now it becomes completely round and interesting: the fruit flavor changes in the direction of dark fruit bread from the wood-fired clay oven.
      Oily and with candied ginger.
    • Finish
      89 89
Fantastically long finish, with the much-loved sugus of Suchard pineapple chewy candies, which end up in a harmonious wood-citrus balance

On the nose sweet, red fruits, raisins. Those aromas we find also in taste plus some honey chocolate and sharpens of cinnamon. Everything would be great but at the end I fill a lot of tannins. It's just too tart...
