Playful Craigellachie with a lot of shoepolish, caramel, peppers and orange bitters. Great dram but maybe a bit too aggressive? Enjoyable nose and flavor but lacking a decent finish unfortunately.

Shoepolish, caramel, yeast, popcorn and a hidden hint of sulfur. Not bad!

Powerful entry! Explosive and intense. Agressive alcohol but overall well integrated. White pepper with dry white sherry influences. Warm! Butterscotch, orange bitters, vanilla pudding and later on also some warm wood with a touch of marzipan and some white chocolate.

Disappointed in the finish- very short and kind of metallic. The wood seems to stay for a few seconds combined with a puff of spice / wood.

I really would like to give this one 88 points and I do it.
Even the empty glass - it still delivers all of its character for quite a long time at this age.
That special sourness combined with some gaia 1.1?!
I don't understand why this Waterford was so underrated, except by some expert. Asta Morris is great by the way.

Pours a light pale yellow. Scent is rough, very intense, almost peaty (not quite, but same strength) earhty funk. Very rough maltyness. Taste is intense, too. Rough maltyness, intense rye like features. Drying, sherry barrel quite clear. Just when you think it's over, another hit of intense aftertaste . Fleshy, oaky, sherry, mature maltyness. Crazy smooth, ofcourse, proving once again Craigellachie is my favorite destillery to date. Everlasting finish. Alcohol - though high - isn't troublesome at all.

    DNA

In the new releases of Asta Morris is also this cask of Craigellachie, which yielded no less than 706 bottles on a whopping 61.3% alcohol percentage. If the content is as beautiful as the completely renewed but oh-so-classic label, then we're in for a treat. The color – white wine to straw – betrays that it is a refill barrel, I think.

For starters, Craigellachie's DNA is unmistakable! Popcorn, butterscotch and shortbread (you know, those typical cookies that you often get with tea in Scotland). Some more vanilla custard, lemon peels soaked in acacia honey and a chunk of white chocolate with puffed rice. My nostrils are absolutely not sedated, despite the impressive ABV.

Nice and creamy and full-bodied, without burning. Really, this doesn't need water. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. And look, even at such a young age, a fine balance is already acquired, thanks to the use of the right wood. Orange peels, lemon juice, raisins, vanilla custard and some caraway seeds that provide a pungent spiciness.

In the long, almost sweet finish I get some meringue and vanilla. Not even 70 EUR. No brainer!

    An aperitif with balls!
