Strawberry & banana bubble gum, lemon, apples, pears, pineapple, melon, honey, vanilla, flowers. Long, slightly drying finish. Swims well too. Absolutely delicious.

    S 6
Very light legs. Need quite some time to open itself up. Impressively fruity on the nose. The palate and finish are more to the winery dry side with sufficient oak flavours to support. Rather one-dimensional. From the brand ambassador, around 2.5 years finish in Sauternes cask.

[78-82] I'll gladly welcome another dram.

    N 25
It has a very, very prominent sweet white wine influence. White grapes, yellow pears. Refreshingly grassy. Now mild woody malts. A whiff of sourness in the background but well integrated. Wait long enough sticky vanilla.

    P 25
Sweet, fresh, and moderate peppery wood spices. Now the sourness revealed itself, oranges and pineapples! Dry wood around the edges. Mild cereal malt. More fruits (unripe mangos, unripe peaches)

    F 23
Short, mildly dry finish. Crispy fresh pineapple lingering alongside the dry wood notes. A touch of filtered honey.

I haven't really warmed to Glencadam yet. Another reason to dedicate a whole week to the whiskys from this distillery. In principle, the Highland Distillery does a lot of things right and tries to bring integrity whiskys onto the market. You just haven't been able to convince me yet. This is a limited bottling finished in Sauternes casks.

    • Nose
In the aroma some cassis with fruit gum, ripe, juicy pears. Despite being 13 years old, it has immature, bitter tones that I often find at Glencadam. There is a slightly grassy note, maybe grain with slightly bitter tendencies. Above that, however, is the sweet pile of Sauternes with the vanilla of the initial ripening. Associations of Chinese plum wine (a few decades ago in China Restaurant…).
    • Taste
The alcohol is present and active on the palate. There is a bourbon cask aroma to which sweet, grape-fruity wine aromas are added. It is a pale whisky with summery-fresh citrus aromas and a sour-bitter aspect of green grape skins. It's probably this aroma that has bothered me a bit about Glencadam so far.
    • Finish
The whisky ends dry, which suits the white wine. So the end is dry - overall the whisky is rather light and sweet. However, it lacks a few woody, nutty, darker flavors that could combine and harmonize these two aspects.

This whisky doesn't really bring me closer to Glencadam either, which is probably not due to the quality but to the basic aroma and character of the whisky, which I don't like that much. I don't like the sour-bitter component in connection with the light syrupy sweetness of the Sauternes, I miss darker, earthy tones, some dark fruitiness. And the price of €90 is €30 too high.

    • Nose
Starts fresh with lemon and tangerine, then becomes significantly sweeter with lemon fizz and lemon drops, apricot, honey, honey and galia melon, caramel, sweet pastries, vanilla, vanilla pudding, a bit of coconut, peach, very minimally a few grasses in the background, very light wood
    • Taste
Tangerine, lemon, lemonade, apricot, physalis, some herbs, wood

Fresh, yellow, juicy apples spread across the nose; sweet; a tart pineapple; Honey; creamy macadamia ice cream; White chocolate; slightly overripe peaches; yellow, juicy pears; voluminous...

...the first drops run softly over the tongue; an interplay between sweet and sour; some oak can be felt; also here the yellow apples and the pineapples; vanilla pudding with peach pulp; Nut mix of almonds and some hazelnuts...

...powerfully vinous he stays behind; only slightly sweet, but now more wood and bitterness; Grapefruit; medium length.

Yes, I like that one. Very tasty, you have to be careful not to drink it down like a juice.
Of these, 1-2 bottles could end up in storage.

A decent whisky. In the nose it is a bit too fresh for me and in the mouth it lacks a bit of depth. However, for 13 years that's fine. However, a large bottle does not necessarily have to be for the price.
    • Nose
Candied citrus fruits. Lemon and Orange Haribo Pasta Frutta. sea buckthorn. sugar beets. Freshness and eucalyptus. Fresh and juicy wood. tree sap. Hints of floral notes.
    • Taste
Flowerhoney. Peach ice tea. cloudberry jam. Porridge. Vanilla Semolina Pudding. The fruits are now more acidic and at the same time the oak sets in. Also some fizzy sticks.
    • Finish
Good interplay between sweet and sour fruit notes. The wood becomes drier. Some grapefruit.
