Tamdhu, 177 Months 1st Fill Rioja Cask
    Tasted at "The Roll"
A malt without weaknesses that can convince in different ways both neat and with water.
Weinfass is a bit atypical for Tamdhu, but overall it's pretty successful for me.
    • Nose

Changeable on the nose at first, I allow the malt a little acclimatization.
Freshly wet the full surface of The Roll, the malt overwhelms the nose with its 54.2% abv. With a little rest it becomes very fruity, sweet and sour at the same time. Red currant, raspberry, white chocolate, a little cherry candy.
Really tasty. There could have been a few more points if the alcohol had been better integrated here.
Even sweeter with a little water.

First the sweetness of red gummy bears, then a strong attack that turns into some woody spice. Alcohol is pretty well integrated here. The tannins increase, it becomes nutty and dry. Maybe some dark chocolate. Behind it comes the fruit again, now Apassiamento grapes. Also a touch of a ferruginous wine (Aglianico).
With water less tannin and dryness. But some liquorice. Overall, however, less differentiated. Neat I like the dram a touch better.
    • Finish
      86 86
Sweet and at the same time dry, fruity aromas fade away. Add some more spices with water. The length varies with the size of the dram. After the first 2 cl I would have rated it as medium at most, after 4 cl it gets a bit longer. The intensity here is average.
Surprisingly, the exit with water wins for me
