An incredibly good old style Glenfarclas from the sherry cask, color to die for, in the glass exactly what you would expect from the eye - even better than the Family Cask WB127337!

The perfect sherry aroma without being overloaded: dark fruits, tobacco, leather, oak, coffee and chocolate - simply everything you dream of from a sherry bottling, it doesn't get much better (at most in the percentage ;-) )!! Fantastic choice of van Wees - hat - totally appropriate for such an anniversary! A must have for every Glenfarclas and Family Cask lover!

Undeniably one of the better whiskies I've had in recent memory.
    • Nose
There's notes of espresso and mocha, but also aged balsamic and touches of burlap and tobacco. A very traditional, old-school style that's heavily sherried indeed, but far from over the top. Raspberry jam and fresh strawberries, then some bitter chocolate, peaches and tinned pineapples as well.
    • Taste
Lovely notes of black pepper, chocolate and mint, but also linseed oil and cherry liqueur. Then classic notes of prunes, dates and figs, followed by tobacco raisins and a cough medicine. It's not without some spicy ginger and cloves too. It could sometimes be mistaken for a properly aged Armagnac.
    • Finish
Long with lingering stone fruits, as well as some apple, mint and breakfast tea.

    A really great Glenfarclas.
    Congratulations on the barrel !!

I'm curious how it will develop, a really tasty old school sherry whisky.

    @ArPeJa, thanks for the sample!

Chocolate, cocoa, some dried fruits, some roasted nuts, tobacco, spices, cloves, some nutmeg, earthy hints - a bit reluctant but pretty good
    • Taste

Oily, creamy, little sirupy, good sweetness, plenty of milk chocolate, toffee, acacia honey, some dried fruits, plums, figs, some pipe tobacco and brown sugar, sherry wood - great!

Medium long, warm, more chocolate, sherry wood, toffee

A very good cask selection indeed and significantly better than most of the 2021 family casks.
Old School Sherry, a real sherry bomb without wanting to deny its origin.
The price is immense, but let's be honest: you hardly ever get such good stuff these days.

Completely clueless, I received this bottling for a blind tasting. Below are my notes:
    • Nose
      92 92
Oh yes, I like the nose. Very rich and intense. If you could smell "syrup" it would definitely go in that direction.
After a pleasant (non-alcoholic) tingle comes juicy dried fruit (apricots and plums), plus tobacco, leather, caramel, cocoa, dried orange slices, vanilla, overripe raspberries.
    • Taste
      90 90
Full and oily body. The flow of saliva is properly stimulated. Very barrel driven. Strong oak notes, nicely spicy but not bitter, orange concentrate, more tobacco and leather, a touch of espresso, chocolate cake, forest honey.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish. Many oily drops remain in the mouth. Orange peel, tobacco, oak, milk chocolate.

Well, it could be anything here. One tastes, I suspect, above all the barrel, but I don't mind. I find the result extremely tasty!
