Whisky Reviews for Fettercairn 1995 DD

- What a pity; this is actually not single cask material. A Fettercairn is recognizable, but matured very unevenly and with too much sulfur in the finish. For the full review, go here: https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2022/01/23/oefter-mal-was-neues/
- Fettercairn 1995 - 2021, 25 years, 59.9% alc. Bottler: Daily Dram (The Nectar). Expansion: Hogshead
Nose: Linden blossom honey and spring meadow come to mind, the honey quickly thickens and is then more reminiscent of beeswax. I also find white chocolate and vanilla pudding, baked banana with honey and dried apple chips. In the background there is a mixture of spices, oak and vegetable broth. Overall a nice first impression.
Palate: Sweet and very heavy. Spicy heather honey comes up briefly, followed by candle wax and then complex cocoa aromas. Coffee chocolate, espresso and oak wood. I find caramel, almonds, grapefruit and some pepper.
Finish: Long and continues the palate well. The oak shows itself with wood sugar and a pleasant bitterness, I also find cocoa butter and milk coffee.
Conclusion: An older Fettercairn as I expected him to be and one often finds him. With a wonderfully intoxicating nose and then powerful aromas on the palate, which becomes more harmonious with a little water. 85/100 points (2022)
