Glenallachie 15 years, 46% alc. Original bottling (approx. 2020). Expansion: Bourbon casks, post-maturation in sherry casks (Oloroso and PX)

Nose: A surprisingly subtle but pleasantly fruity nose, as well as a slight spiciness. The whisky begins with plum jam and various nuts. There are also flambéed bananas and blackberries, some white chocolate. The plum jam is seasoned with a little cinnamon, then I find cedar wood and colorful pepper.

Palate: Creamy and fruity, dries quickly. Dried fruits in chocolate, cinnamon and tobacco. Again some nuts, the spices are now increasing significantly. The cinnamon gains in spiciness, plus some pepper and some sparkling oak.

Finish: Long and dry, the oak clearly sets the tone here. Coffee chocolate, cloves and cinnamon, pepper. Also suddenly a little lavender.

Conclusion: This Glenallachie starts out a bit reserved and playful on the nose, but picks up speed on the palate. For me a good whisky for cold winter evenings. 84/100 points (2021)

For me, this bottling from 09.07.2021 is the biggest disappointment of this distillery so far!
As much as the bottling of 11./12. September 2020, I have the impression that since then the quality of the 15yo has been continuously decreasing from batch to batch! In the meantime, people are swimming on the wave of success, hype bottlings like the 21yo and 30yo are flipped until the doctor comes, so apparently you don't have to keep the quality that high anymore...
In any case, the anger about this one here causes me to stop buying this one after I have always had a bottle of GA15 open since 2020!
Dull, bland, over-present pungent alcohol and caramel-wood with bitterness, that's pretty much it!
There is nothing left here of the sherry aroma of the bottlings from 9/2020 and 12/2020.
    I cannot recommend this bottling!
